Collaborations with Carmen Crockett
Over the past 4 years, Carmen has been a consistent collaborator with Ashley Gayle as they've created and performed together throughout the Bay Area. Together we've presented a duet, "Chapters", which performed in Santa Rosa, San Francisco, and Richmond. We've also hosted and taught two performance workshops that culminated into a piece, "Ancestral Joy", showcased in Richmond and Berkeley.
Chapters
This piece will take you through the valleys of grief, the struggles of reclaiming your indentity and the moments of remembering joy.

We presented this piece at our own curated Juneteenth Salon hosted by SADC. We worked with intergenerational dancers with mixed dance experience to create a work that explored finding joy through an ancestral lens.
